Aerodrome Ground Signals
Back to: RAA Air Legislation
Often is essential that incoming aircraft need to be warned about certain conditions at an aerodrome.
When this is necessary markings are placed in a large circle , sometimes near the windsock.
You must know these for safe flight and your exam.
White dumbbell – restricted operations – use hard surfaces only
White cross – aerodrome is totally unserviceable – closed to all operations
Double white cross– gliding is in progress – this lets you know to keep a good lookout and give way to all gliders – many don’t have radios
