Reportable Matters

Reportable matters are divided into those that require immediate reporting and those that must be reported routinely.

This section is likely in exam.

See: https://www.raa.asn.au/storage/raap-21.pdf only if you want more detail.

Immediately Reportable Matters (IRM)

  • Death
  • Serious Injury
  • Missing Aircraft
  • Seriously damaged aircraft
  • Breakdown of separation with an aircraft under ATC supervision
  • Any fuel mismanagement

Examples of IRM, undercarriage damage, a missing or long overdue aircraft, violation of CTA, needing to take evasive action in flight, any fuel mismanagement, a significant weather event

Note for RA-Aus fuel mismanagement is an IRM according to RAAP21, where as for CASA registered aircraft under the ENR 1.14-6 Para 3.2.1 it is an RRM.

Routinely Reportable Matters (RRM)

  • Non serious injury to onboard person
  • Near miss with terrain
  • Near miss with fuel exhaustion or starvation
  • A near miss with an aircraft
  • Incapacitation of any pilot
  • Collision with an animal

Examples of RRM – running off a runway or taxiway, hitting an aerodrome marker or light, using incorrect fuel or oil, engine failure with a safe landing and no injury.
