Reportable Matters

Reportable matters are divided into those that require immediate reporting and those that must be reported routinely.

Immediately Reportable Matters (IRM)
- Death
- Serious Injury
- Missing Aircraft
- Seriously damaged aircraft
- Breakdown of separation with an aircraft under ATC supervision
- Any fuel mismanagement
Examples of IRM, undercarriage damage, a missing or long overdue aircraft, violation of CTA, needing to take evasive action in flight, any fuel mismanagement, a significant weather event
Note for RA-Aus fuel mismanagement is an IRM according to RAAP21, where as for CASA registered aircraft under the ENR 1.14-6 Para 3.2.1 it is an RRM.
Routinely Reportable Matters (RRM)
- **Report within 72 hours – this will likely be in exam
- Non serious injury to onboard person
- Near miss with terrain
- Near miss with fuel exhaustion or starvation
- A near miss with an aircraft
- Incapacitation of any pilot
- Collision with an animal
Examples of RRM – running off a runway or taxiway, hitting an aerodrome marker or light, using incorrect fuel or oil, engine failure with a safe landing and no injury.
